Aaahhh!

I feel amazingly good!

Nice!!!

I am really tired today!
Thanks to Vojta, I didn't have to bring the cello on the planes. I was only bringing my hand luggage and bow case. And my cello had vacation from the pit.

After the performance on Sunday, Mum was really funny during the drive home. We were giving one colleague a ride home, and in the darkness you find the strangest of creatures. One homeless person collecting cans and bottles in the lights from passing cars. And up-your-bum-drivers.
We had to go down a really narrow, quite steep and winding road to get home. Out of the blue (well, black is probably a more describing word) there came a red up-your-bum driver. Of course. He tried to get a good view of the road - to know when to pass us. This is more or less impossible on this road, unless you are highly suicidal. Halfway down we had to leave this roller coaster of a road. And guess what - the up-your-bum driver had the same route. Mum hates these ones. Why do they have to drive so close they can almost smell your ass?? I wonder.
Our road has a speed limit of 50, so she drove almost too slow just to piss him off. Then she put her foot on the gas and almost hit 60 just to let her car roll home, continuously loose speed. Some few metres from our gate, the red car were ready to pass us. Just then, Mum had to give signal to turn left. Of course.
I guess the guy got really pissed off. Suits him right!

Location: Mums kitchen
Eating: Breakfast, soon anyway. Oat porridge.

Mood: My mum is cool! And I'm still smiling of the flirtatious conductor yesterday. Too many cute girls and guys to wink at. He was quite busy, I can tell.

Catching up with old friends

...has been this weeks theme, I guess.
Tuesday I met up with a girl from junior high school - Cathrine. We also went to high school together, and actually - it was there we got to know each other. Cathrine and I were always walking together in a trio with Brit Hege. For a while it seemed like it would be a trio reunion, because Brit H. is in town quite often now because of some course - but no. She was still in Stavanger, so we had a reunion minus one. It was incredibly nice!! Both kind of tired after work, but eating great indian food and having company with each other made it a great evening.
Then on Thursday Guro and I went out to grab a coffee - which ended up being her having dinner, Amanda and I share a bean cake (interesting aquaintance) and Tove (a swedish cellist) just joining company in a tiny Thai place. Later that day, Amanda and I headed towards "Parkteateret"  to see a concert from Fever Ray which is a family friend of Amandas.

The whole day was kind of stressing because I had been at mums place to pick up my concert clothes, and of course I forgot something. Only this something was my phone. I had an appointment with Amanda that said "see you at the opera, the concert starts at 8" Yeah. Very spesific....
I ran around the opera to find her, borrowed Johannas (harp player) phone - no answer, sent a message - no answer, called mum - and heard Amanda had tried to call me. Of course - the number which is in the book from the opera has one wrong number. When I finally got hold of Amanda, it turns out she´s been running around the oprera after me too. Only pure luck we didn´t bump into each other....
There was more to come - We took the tram to Grünerløkka, lined up for the concert and standing there almost 15 min. before the doorman came out, shouting "NO possibility to get ANY tickets now" and ruining our dreams of a night out with great music. Needless to say, we took a glass of cheering-up grown-ups-soda ;)
Friday I had lined up for a coffee with Anna, who has been to India, France, around Norway and Sweden since I saw her last time. It was great to see her! We went to Stockfleths with great efforts because of a very inconvenient sort of bag/suit case. It flipped over as soon as we even thought there would be a bump on the pedestrial. Hooray!!!
After consuming our coffee and cakes, Atle came strolling in with a friend. Atle studied with me in Trondheim, and we have met accidently twice a year since then. It bacame a fun group of people!
Now I´m facing one of my most hasty weeks ever, so it´s time to pack my bag and head for the bus.
Kristiansand, here I come again!

Location: Dad´s computer room
Mood: ok
Eating: breakfast soon!
Drinking: ditto kaffe

Friday the 13th

One can almost become superstitious when things like these happens on Friday the 13th:

-A clay avalange in Mid-Norway
-The woman behind the counter makes a mistake to put in a 0 too much on my bill. The shop doesn't have the card that makes them able to cancel the payment, and the BBS central doesn't pick up the phone
-The main shopping centre in Bhangladesh catches fire

but then again you don't get superstitious when it turns out that nobody got hurt in the avalange and the shop pays me back directly on my account (well, on monday). How it will end in Bhangladesh I don't know, but now nobody has been reported dead.

Morning coffee and after-work-shopping

This morning I thought I'd be up at a decent time and have a slow morning before work at 11. But, 8.30 I got a nice message from Ingvild - she was in town (her son was not fully recovered from his eye-catarrh) and wanted to do something. We decided a morning coffee was a good idea. So - I jumped out of bed, ran around to get my things and cello, brushed my teeth and rushed out of the house just after the bus should have departed. (It is always late, but still - I was a wee bit lucky.)
We had a great hour or so at Stockfleths with coffee, sandwiches and water next to her sons caviar-slices. He got a bit wriggly after a while, the doors were very cool and the staircase too interesting. But when he hit his jaw on the table (fell down from his chair) he was very brave ineed!

Mother and child, just after the accident. No sad faces!

On our way out, we met another "Samfundet" voluntair - Andreas, who followed me to the bridge over to the Opera house.
After todays rehearsal of what the solo cellist described as "silly, silly ballett music", we went to the Opera Shop. Dad had told me they had a sale (50% off) on music and books - and bags! so this is what I ended up buying:

Hyttetur

The title is a tribute to the song "Hyttetur" and I think all Norwegians knows how it goes. It wasn't any sister who was sour, but a grandma who was complaining. But that was mostly because her equipment didn't hold together.

My brother is at a folkehøyskole (some kind of school in-between high school and uni. Voluntarily.), called Bjerkely Folkehøyskole, where they focus on photography. And this Saturday they had all the families gathered to see what the young, aspiring artists had done during their excursions abroad. Mum wanted to go there, and dragged both me and Grandma with her. Since the school is much closer to the cabin than home, we slept over there from Friday to Saturday. The only problem was the 1 meter of snow we had to conquer. At least Grandma. It's been over 15 years since last time she used a pair of skis, and the last one to use her shoes was me some 3 years ago.
We didn't really plan anything, just packed some food, clothes for one day, skis and the key. Called aunt Astrid to get the code to a gate-lock, and we all took for granted that everything was ok - only worrying about Grandmas skiing skills.
A mistake.
Her shoes started to fall apart the moment she put them on at home, but we only realized it when we got out of the car 300 m. from the cabin. (That was almost 3 hours drive from home.)
As a result: we spent a few hours to get from the car to the cabin.
We left Grandma's skis in the car, and let her walk instead. Mum left us to find some snowshoes that should be at the cabin (according to Grandma, who hadn't been there for some years), and I stamped my skis into the snow so the old woman would have somewhere to walk without disappearing into the whiteness. It was not really successful. Sometimes I heard "Noooo I don't want to" behind me, turned around only to see her falling SLOWLY into the snow. Tilting, is probably a better word.
Mum didn't find the snowshoes, but Grandpa's old-old skis. They didn't fit, of course, but at least they had a string Grandma could have around her shoes to keep them from falling off.

Finally inside, a cozy fire in the fireplace, soup in our stomachs, tea and burning oil-lamps made the effort worthwhile.

Saturday morning, mum and I woke up with the smell of coffee in our noses. Grandma had gotten up with the sun, heated up the house and came up to the attic with sweet buns and coffee. It was such a nice morning!

Grandma, the early morning bird.

I just woke up - but the coffee was nice and strong :)

After breakfast it was time to pack, wash the dishes and figure out how to get down to the car again. It was still a lot of snow, or more even. After a lot of searching around, we found a second set of keys. They led to a shed mum didn't open yesterday - and what did she find in there? Snowshoes!
I gave Grandma my shoes and skis, and took her old, broken shoes and the snowshoes. Both mum and Grandma fell down a few times (mum due to a heavy backpack, Grandma because of not practised her skiing for a while but blaming the equipment) and we had great laughs at it. I felt like a rescuing party.

Snowshoes!

Grandma on skies, and my footsteps next to her.

To get to Bjerkely, we had to drive through Elverum centrum. It was really crowded everywhere, lots of people - and animals. A market! Every year there is a market there, but we didn't know what date it was (didn't check) so we missed it. Arrgh!
But I'm very happy we didn't miss the show at Eivinds school. It was great! Quite long, but so many fantastic images. How I wished to have enough time and money to go to Cuba, Venezia, Kambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Amsterdam.

This is just some of the rubber Grandma's shoes left behind in the shop...

The shoes

Ingvild, here are my shoes! My stupid phone (I know a phone can't actually be stupid, but it has been acting rather weird lately) wouldn't let the computer find it in the picture-index. So, I ended up sending it through mobile blogging.
(I bought the shoes in "Printemps" - the huge shopping center in Paris, some weeks ago. A whole floor only dedicated to great shoes! It was a combined heaven and hell - lots of fantastic shoes, with very high prices.)

*FANFARE*

I've found my cables, so now some of the older blogposts has got pictures in them!!
And here is Trupik:

Isn't he just a cutie? Incredibly soft and cuddly, too. I think he'll be good company for Robi when I'm not at home.

Location: Sitting on my bed
Mood: Tired, and annoyed at my phone for hiding the new picture of my shoes.
Eating: not yet
Drinking: Green tea with rice in it. You know, this tea you get in Sushi places

Sorry Dad!

I really tried to give you a picture of Trupik today. I ran around the house to find some cable so I could transfer the picture for you (without spending even more money on transferring datafiles from my phone), and I found Robert's cables. (He's got the same brand of phone.) But, his computer didn't understand any of the thoughts of my little phone. Then I got the brilliand idea of giving you a link to the IKEA site. I thought they had all their articles on the web. I found the IKEA catalog, the childrens room part of it, stuffed animals, the same series of animals as Trupik... But alas! This is, of course, IKEA so now you'll have to wait until monday night. Hope it's ok.
Love you!
